Feel Free Friday! What’s your story?

What’s your story?  It’s Feel Free Friday! Another Friday has arrived and I couldn’t be happier for the wknd to be here!  I don’t know about you but this week konda dragged on, but for each day let us be truly grateful. Today, please feel free and take the time to share your positive experiences. For me, this experience was simple  but has resonated through me ever since. Recently, I saw this woman during the morning rush to work. Her hair was styled in a nice bob cut with deep purple highlights. Some may say purple is an extreme hair color, but this was subtle and chic. I  admired from afar until one day I found myself walking alongside her. My inner voice said, “just tell her you like her hair.” So I did. Now, normally I’m a shy person, an introvert in alot of ways, but I went out of myself and said, “Good morning;  I  have to say that I just love your hair color :-)” Her morning game face, you know, the one we put on when we are heading to our jobs on a Monday morning, instantly warmed up into a big smile as she said, “Thank you so much!  You know, I’ve noticed your Locs and wanted to tell you the same thing! I just love them.  I’m thinking of doing the same thing with my natural hair! My good friend has referred me to.her Loctician but I haven’t called yet. ” Huh, I thought, who knew? And the conversation went on from there. We exchanged hair stories on our walk to work, about breakage and the beauty of wearing our natural styles. What stood out for me was her confidence.  Even in her storirs of wearing wigs and hair breakage, she had so much confidence in her beauty that it was a reminder for me, & inspired my thought for that day and still today: that we are beautiful, inside and out, & that even in our short comings we must always remember that there is always something to feel Joyous and confident about. I encouraged her to start her Locs if she was going that route and how it will help her hair grow even more (in 2yrs mine went from jaw length to below my shoulders;this encouraged her further). We thanked each other for sharing our stories and bid each other a good day. What amazing things happen when we step outside our comfort zones and explore uncharted territories, doing things we wouldn’t normally do. We realize that we are more powerful than we ever imagined.  I know this may be a simple story, but it spoke volumes to me. What’s your story? Hit me up! Smile A While :-)

Good morning ♡

Smile! It does wonders for the soul and reminds you of hope. There will always be an obstacle or situation to work through and overcome.  But take a moment to smile and feel Joy. Your Spirit will be uplifted and you will brighten the day of someone else who may be findinf it hard to smile, reminding them that Goodness and Joy are still possible in times of despair. Love yourself & be yourself. Peace & Love ♡ ☆

Action :

This practice today is simple: SMILE!!!! It will feel awkward at first because you may not know what to amile about. But there ia always something.  It could be past or present, but there is always something to feel Joyous about (i.e. memories of times that brought you laughter, accomplishments and goals that you have met, Life, Love, etc ).  When you find yourself stewing about sad situations or uncontrollable events, give yourself a smile and move into a new and more positive thought.

Cherish the love ♡

Good morning ♡

To cherish something is to love and protect it, to treat it with care and use it cautiously. How do you cherish yourself? Looking within, take some time today to look at the aspects of your true self and embrace them all. Regard each aspect for exactly what it is: a part of you, whether it is something to feel proud of or not, it is you. There is always room for growth, one step at a time. We are always developing ourselves even when we don’t realize it. Cherish yourself fully and give yourself Love. You are uniquley and divinely made. Treat yourself as such and it will be reflected back to you. Love yourself & be yourself. Peace & Love ♡ ☆

Action: Speak to yourself in love today, & give yourself the positive vibrations to lead you to a Peaceful state within yourself. “I am worthy,” “I am beauty,” “I am peace,” etc. Fill yourself with love and fulfillment and walk in the confidence that you are whole. Even when we make mistakes, forgive yourself and move forward in love to do better the next time, as this is part of your growth as well.

Let it grow!

Good morning ♡

Monday has greeted us yet again, so let’s give thanks! Thank you to those who shared with me their experiences of growth om Feel Free Friday 🙂 For thise that didn’t, that’s okay. There isbalways this Friday. As we enter a new week, I ask this question: How does a seed grow? It is covered in darkness, shielded from any outside noises or weathering. It’s in this time of darkness and quiet where it receives it’s nurturing, where it receives it’s water for growth. And as it grows, it pushes through the mud, the soil, the dirt, worms and all other things that have surrounded it. These roots don’t destroy the dirt but yet they make use of it and take only what they need from it, and then…..Light! Sunlight gives more warmth, more nuturing, allowing the plant to grow taller and greener and eventually providing some form of nourishment to others. I encourage you today that whatever  darkness has you feeling like there may be no way out, use it to take time to grow. It can be painful, it can tiresome and feel hopless. But be patient. Nuture your seed and before you know you will be a beautiful plant soaking in the sun and not only being good for you, but also good for others. Love yourself & be yourself. Peace & Love ♡ ☆

Action: Today, I  encourage you to meditate. Take a moment today and tap in to your soul. In the silence you will be able to hear your heart and Spirit speaking to you,  giving you guidance as to what you your next steps should be, and even some encouragement. You will be able to find some peace in whatever it is that plagues you ♡☆

Believe in yourself!

What do you believe? What do you believe to be the truth of yourself? As we go through life, we have the tendency to allow circumstances and situations, especially the negative ones, to shape what we think of ourselves, allowing such circumsatnces to define us. But how is that ever helpful, to give ourselves a “bad wrap”deep down, feeling like a failure or as though we would be better off elsewhere, living someone else’s life? It’s why some of us end up feeling like we have been living a lie, not being true to ourselves.  When we start to acknowlege our core beings and the truth of our worthiness, the truth of being lovable, the truth of being amazing and wonderfully created with the ability to anything great that we set our minds to, we can really begin to feel the realness of our lives. We can begin to feel most like ourselves and soar to our highest levels of self, fulfilling our truest purposes. Love yourself & be yourself. Peace & Love ♡ ☆

Action :

Today, think about what situations may have contributed to a negative thought or belief that you may have of yourself. With that belief, give yourself the opposite thought. For example, change,  “I feel inadequate, ” to “I am fully capable of….” Take the time to reinvent what you think of yourself and should you start to feel down or beat up on yourself, take a deep breath and remind yourself that hurting yourself won’t help you feel better. Give yourself Love through the process and live in the truth that you can do this! You are Love at your deepest level.

After the storm comes the sunshine♡☆♡☆♡

Good morning ♡

Be still, be calm, be patient.  These three statements, so small yet they pack a powerful punch. How many times have we sprung into action out of fear, out of anger, or both? In the eye of the storm is when it is most quiet, most still. It’s when things are brewing that we cannot see. What are you hoping to grasp hold of but are afraid of standing still? Sometimes that’s all you need to find that answer: to be still, be calm, be patient. After the rain comes the sun, & new and improved things emerge from the broken rubble and dust. But rememeber as well that during the storm,there is an active tearing down of old structures (beliefs) and monuments (old ideals and esteems) that no longer serve us any purpose. It will be hard to see but it’s what needs to be done. What is your rain(tears) trying to tell you? Be still, be calm, be patient, and listen. Love yourself & be yourself. Peace & Love ♡ ☆


As there are things that can overwhelm us each day,try this to beat the pressure: close your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply for 5 seconds. In that 5 seconds, envision yourself standing in the eye of a hurricane, where everything is still and you don’tknow when the storm will begin again. Embrace that calm and feel it. Once you feel your racing heart slow down, open your eyes. Things will feel less pressing and you will be better equipped to find calmness in your anxiety.

Positive vs. Negative: The Balance

Good morning ♡

Monday has arrived and it’s the beginning of another work week. How  do you utilize your time? Today, pay close attention to how you invlove yourself in each area of your life. Is your mind running on what to make for dinner while you are busy in a work meeting? Are thinking about your favorite TV show while preparing your children for bed?  Multitasking is a great skill, but burn out is real and can begin in the mind as most life outcomes do. Use your positive space, the time in your day in which you are engaged in lively  activities  (i.e. work, school,taking care if the kids, etc), to be present in that moment. Pay attention to what matters in each area and embrace it. When all is said and done for the day and you have your “down”time,” your negative space, & make a point to spend this time taking care of you. Delve into your core and Spirit. Prepare yourself for the day ahead and give to yourself what you have given out: Love, tenderness, care. Live in the moment and embrace each area of your life for what it is. Action :

Try the Box method! I have done this and even though it is easy to fall back into old habita, this really works when you are trying to organize and balance your life. Someone once told me that they put each area of their life into boxes: at work,they are working, at home they are the spouse & the parent, with friends, they are the friend, & alone they are with themself. In each box,their time and energy is dedicated to that role. In the positive space, they engage in each role, giving their energy towards the tasks at hand and being present in the moment. Specifically in the alone role, they are utilizing the negative space (not negative in the sense of doing something harmful or non-productive or hurtful, but rather a space in which they pay attention to their own needs and self, paying attention to their core and Spirit, sometimes engainge with others that assist in that process). How do you use you positive and negative spaces? How do you make use of your upful and active time and your quiet and alone time? To make this activity more visual, draw the boxes on paper and label them as the areas of your life and in each box list the activities of each role. If you run out of space in each one, it’s time to prioritize.
